The Barn 116 Story

In 2010, when I was eight years old, my family moved into the home we now lovingly call Barn116.  My parents had always dreamed of raising their kids on a farm—returning to their roots and embracing a simpler way of life, surrounded by animals, nature, and the feeling of home.

As the second oldest of five, this is where my story unfolded. We ran barefoot through the fields, played ghost in the graveyard under summer skies, gathered eggs from the chickens, and roasted s’mores by crackling bonfires. Winters meant gator sledding across snowy hills, and every season brought its own kind of magic.

In the quiet rhythms of farm life, I fell in love with photography — driven by a deep desire to preserve the fleeting moments that fade so quickly. Barn116 taught me to see beauty in the real, the messy, and the meaningful.

My treasured Location

our family photo from 2013 on the farm

In 2018, my mom, Jane-Ann (owner of Barn116), felt a quiet pull to create something beautiful — and our backyard flower garden was born. I can still remember coming downstairs late at night and finding her deep in research,  learning everything she could about flowers and how to grow them.

What started as a quiet passion slowly bloomed into something extraordinary. With countless hours of dedication, she and my dad transformed our backyard into a little slice of heaven. Today, she shares that beauty with others through seasonal markets, where she sells her flowers and a curated selection of tasteful merchandise. Now, every time I step outside, it feels like I’ve wandered into the peaceful countryside of France — calm, blooming, and full of life.
